Let Your Voice Sing!

Hello everyone! Olivia here. I wrote this post a couple of days ago, so just to give you some context in the post. I hope you all enjoy it :)

Have you ever wondered, “How often should I praise the Lord?
Why should I praise the Lord? How do I praise the Lord?”

<><><>

Let me begin with a little story. Last week, I woke up late.
I was supposed to be at work for 8 AM, and I woke up at 7:25.
I definitely didn’t have time to walk, and I still had to eat breakfast and get ready. I was quite frazzled, and I didn’t feel like going to work.
I just wanted to stay home and have a nice, home-y day, working on school and hanging out at home.
But I knew I had to go. I scarfed down breakfast whilst messaging my best friend, and I was all frazzled and anxious.
She said she was praying for me, and then ended up sharing a few verses with me.
One of them was the following:

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
   his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.”

I thought, “I have a reason to rejoice. God has saved me.
I can rejoice in His salvation today, at work, even despite my feelings.”

A great reason to rejoice, right?

We all have bad days. If you’ve never had a bad day, I would be very surprised… and skeptical xD
On those bad days, it’s especially hard to praise God and rejoice in Him. You don’t feel up to it, and you just want to be alone for awhile and cry, or let someone comfort you.
I know the feeling, believe me I do. But it’s in those times especially when it’s hard to rejoice that you should rejoice.
Praise God in the bestest of times, and praise Him when it’s hard. Even if your voice is all weak and trembly, cracking here and there, and you can’t get out two words without bursting into tears, it’s healing. Praising God during the hard times helps you to focus on HIS grace and mercy and love rather than focus on your problem or bad day or whatever you’re struggling through.

It’s pretty easy to praise God when you’re excited, right? You just want to jump up and down and thank Him a million times and sing at the top of your lungs worship songs. I think I can find a verse to help fit this moment ;)
“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth;
   break forth into joyous song and sing praises!
Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre,
   with the lyre and the sound of melody!
With trumpets and the sound of the horn
make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord!
Let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
   the world and those who dwell in it!
Let the rivers clap their hands;
   let the hills sing for joy together...”
So let your voice sing for the Lord all the time! Even if it’s just in your heart, or from your mouth, or just praying praises to the Lord, or praising Him in your mind, you can praise Him anywhere.
And we can praise and thank Him for what He has done for us, for Who He is. He is so merciful, loving, forgiving, kind, just, compassionate, and so so much more.
He died for our sins, on that cross, taking the punishment that we so rightly deserved. When I think about it, it’s just so amazing. Doesn’t it make you want to praise Him all the time? I hope it does!

I realize this post is a little messy… It also is almost 12 AM (when I wrote this. I'm now posting it and it's not 12 AM :P ), so I’m going to leave it here for now, and
I hope you guys got the jist of what I’m saying xD

See ya all next time! And until then, let your voice sing to the Lord!

Is God Enough?

Is God enough for you? This is a very important question. One that all Christians need to consider. Is God enough for you? Some of you may wonder what I mean by that question. Let me explain. Is God enough for you? Is He more important than your friends? Whatever popularity you may have? Your money? Your romantic relationships? Your family? Something I've been processing through recently, if I lost all these things, would God still be enough? Would I still be able to smile knowing God is in control? Would I still be able to find joy through the midst of trials? Would I still rely on God to give me everything I need? Because, you see, God is always enough. It's just a matter of whether we make Him enough for ourselves. Are you searching for happiness outside of God? Maybe you are searching for love and belonging inside the confines of a friendship, family, or a relationship. Maybe you're looking for happiness in money or popula

Whom Do You Say That I Am?

"He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." ~Matthew 16:15-16 KJV One of the most important questions in history. Whom do you say that I am? Imagine Jesus, standing in front of you asking you this question. What would you say? "Well Jesus, there's a lot of people who say You were a prophet or just a good person, even a good moral teacher. They say..." But whom do you  say that I am? Who is Jesus? Was He just a good moral teacher or prophet? Did He come to earth to simply help people out? To help them with their problems? Or was He more than that? Your eternal destiny hinges on the way you answer this question. Our God is a personal God. He asks each of us individually to receive Him. He gives each of us the choice to decide if we're going to believe what's true or what's false. Because at the end of the day, He's still God regardless of wh

Don't Be Afraid to Stand Out

Photo by  Joshua Earle  on  Unsplash In our culture, there seems to be a lot of pressure to conform . You know, to fit in with everyone you're friends with, and only do what is 'culturally acceptable'. I find that there's a lot of pressure (shall we call it peer pressure ?), especially during the teen years. There's pressure to fit in - by getting into the cliques, by wearing "cool" clothes, and just by generally blending in with everyone around us. We want to be liked by our peers, and there's nothing wrong with that. But I'm here today to tell you: You don't have to conform. You don't have to be like everyone around you. You don't have to be the teenager who rebels, the guy who sleeps around, or the girl who goes to every single party. You don't have to be popular to be loved. Because that's what the culture says is cool. That's what the world around us is doing. You can rise above that. You can be so much mo
